Maarten van der Lee
Background

I spent twelve years building and leading high-performance sales organizations in IT and telco consulting — designing commercial strategy, carrying the number, and closing the largest deals myself. I closed the largest Benelux deal of 2018 at €44 million, owned a commercial P&L of €22 million, and made target year after year.

What sets my approach apart is that I think like an owner. The question is never only what closes this quarter, but what serves the business a year out. That sometimes means unpopular calls — dropping accounts, reassigning territories, slowing a hire — and it is usually where the real difference is made.

The rest is people-first. Stronger capabilities produce better numbers and happier professionals, in that order. That is what I did for four years at Team Rockstars IT, a company that puts people first without qualification. Productivity rose and attrition fell.

Now based in New York, I work with founders, CMOs and CROs who are serious about revenue growth and about building commercial teams that outlast a single good quarter.

How I work

Think like an owner

Decisions get judged on what they do to the business a year out, not on what they do to this month's number.

People before process

Capability is the lever. Better skills produce better results and lower attrition; process only makes that repeatable.

Work the real deals

No role-play and no generic playbooks. We work on the opportunities that are on your board this week.
